Artist's Statement
I think of my art as a vessel to escape into a world of fantasy and desires located in the deepest parts of my imagination. I’ve always been thought of as a quiet person, and I feel that my art is the perfect juxtaposition to my personality. I use my art to speak loudly with the use of vibrant colors and thought provoking concepts. I approach my art with a whimsical attitude, which comes through in my images. The infinite world of fractals provides a perfect outlet for me to express my fantasies and endless amount of feelings the human body can sense.
I use different fractal generating programs such as Mandelbulb 3d, Jwildfire, and Apophysis 7x to create surreal, dreamlike environments within my images. I have spent years studying these programs to learn how to manipulate their mathematical formulas to create interesting works of art. They are all started from scratch, adjusting the parameters as I go along. I've spent countless hours tweaking and fine tuning my fractals to create these fascinating images. Each image averages about 24 hours of rendering time to produce the highest quality possible. At times, further editing is done in Photoshop CC and Blender.
Although these programs can produce a plethora of various types of fractals, my works can all be linked together with an underlying feel of playfulness, emphasized by using vivid mixes of color. I use color to spark one’s attention, set the mood, and to put the mind at ease. Since fractals are a natural phenomenon, one can find familiar looking structures within the art that can bring feelings of nostalgia and overall euphoria. I encourage the viewer to think freely, as if looking at a cloud. What is seen and felt can vary drastically from person to person.
The concept of infinity can be found throughout my works as well. The worlds I create are unlimited, endless, and without boundaries.
I also find parallels with my artwork and english language idioms, and often use them to title my pieces. When analyzing my work, the viewer is free to interpret it as they please. They are encouraged to open their minds to ponder over its hidden meanings. Like idioms, the artwork can be taken literally or figuratively. The end result is a vivid and interesting expression of the concept, idea, or particular situation.
With a whimsical and colorful approach, I am bringing fractal art to the forefront of the art world.
